Boneless Diver was crafted from limestone marble in April 2000.
In May 2000, I saw for the first time, a drawing done by Augustus Rodin of a swimmer underwater who is turning toward the surface.
It was eerie to me that I had just spent a month working on a similar subject carved in stone. I was also upset that someone might think I was inspired by the drawing rather than from my own imagination. Oh well what can one do? As with others of my works - it is nearly impossibe to capture the piece in a photograph. You really have to see it in person to appreciate the form of it.
